Doug and Becky, We send our deepest sympathies. We were shocked to read of Eddie's passing because we weren't aware that he had been sick. Although I hadn't seen Eddie in recent years, I always considered him a close friend. We have taken your suggestion about the Darlington High School Girl's Softball Team.

Around the corner I have a friend, In this city that has no end, Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, and before I know it a year has gone. And I never see my old friends face, for life is a swift and terrible race. He knows I like him just as well, as in the days that I rang his bell, and he rang mine but we were younger then, and now we are busy, tired men and women. tired of playing a foolish game, tired of trying to make a name. 'Tomorrow' I say 'I will call on Eddie, just to show that I'm thinking of him. But tomorrow comes and goes, and the distance between us grows and grows. Around the corner, yet miles away, 'Here's a telegram madame', "Eddie died today.' And thats what we get and deserve in the end, around the corner, a vanished friend.

We are so happy that we got to visit with Eddie & Karen while camping on their property at the May 2010 race. We've been camping there for the past 14 years; what wonderful, fun loving people they are. Eddie will be missed greatly but will always be in our thoughts as he rests in peace. So sorry he didn't get to see his grandson take his first steps, he was hoping he would be here to see that day.
